Get to Know: Sheet Metal Enclosures

Here at Qualitetch, we provide our customers with so much more than just the highest quality chemical etching, laser cutting, and CNC machining. Alongside these services, we also offer component forming, plating and finishing, and  sheet metal enclosures  to suit your every metal component need.

Sheet metal enclosures  are an important part of the manufacturing process that we provide our customers with. While the parts and components we produce are intricate and delicate in nature, the enclosures that house them are equally as important for their lifespan and to ensure they are kept in working order.

How do we do it?

The processes we use for bespoke sheet metal enclosures include photo etching, CNC machining, and wire erosion. We can produce parts up to 60cm x 60cm, with a thickness of up to 3mm. We can create enclosures from any number of metals that we work with, including Nickel, Stainless Steel, Aluminium, Brass, Copper and many more.

Further to this, all of our enclosures can go through our plating and finishing service to create the polished look that people are used to. For this, we will use Tin, Silver, Gold and Nickel, amongst other materials.

How does it work?

Your enclosure will start life as a piece of sheet metal. Any design details or functions will be incorporated using the metal etching process to ensure smooth, burr-free edges.

We can then score lines into the surface of the metal; this is called “half-etching” and allows the metal to bend and fold much easier at the next stage of the process. The bending and folding is done with the help of form tooling processes.

This method of etching lines for folding is a great way of reducing costs when it comes to the forming stage.

As well as sheet metal enclosures, we also produce screening cans and associated products that are used for fences and lids, five-sided cans, multiple compartments, and spring fingered lids, amongst many others.

Anything else?

The products that we manufacture are used at all stages of a project – from the initial research prototypes through to a full production line, at large scale volumes. Because of the flexibility afforded to us via the chemical etching process, our sheet metal enclosures can have brand names, part ID numbers, and much more included.

The enclosures can be designed around your bespoke design needs, and can be delivered as open sheet metal or fully formed, dependent on your need and storage requirements.

Our  sheet metal enclosure service is just one of many that we provide to our customers, with consistently high standards across the board. If you’re interested in finding out more about this service, please browse our website, or contact us today for more information.
